Our History

Founding Story
In 2013, Cindy Jones, an independent choreographer and arts administrator, founded Inspirata Dance Project (IDP) in the Magic Valley region. With a vision to provide a platform for young and aspiring modern dancers, Jones established IDP as a creative space where choreographers can showcase their works.

10 Years of Innovation
Over the last decade, IDP has challenged assumptions about dance presentation through cutting-edge choreography, innovative collaborations, and creative site-specific works. With more than 17 productions featuring works by Cindy Jones, guest choreographers, and IDP company members, we have continuously aimed to expand the boundaries of contemporary dance.

Leadership Transition

In 2024, IDP underwent a significant leadership shift with the appointment of Kiah Carpenter as the new artistic director. This transition brought about a new structure and artistic focus, including the launch of updated branding and a revitalized mission. Working collaboratively with a dedicated team, Kiah is committed to honoring the organization's original mission while adapting it to resonate with contemporary audiences and remain relevant in today's ever-evolving artistic landscape. Together, they ensure that IDP continues to be a creative outlet for thinking, making, and moving, reinforcing their commitment to artistic growth and exploration.
